Rihanna’s new album, Unapologetic drops November 19th

Another year… another album. World superstar, Rihanna will release her new album, Unapologetic on the 19th of November. This will be her seventh studio. She certainly knows how to make hay while the sun shines. The first single off the album is called Diamonds. It debuted on Billboard’s Hot 100 at number sixteen, which isn’t great for the star, but the song is slowly but surely gaining momentum, airplay at traction in the market, so watch out for it. If you haven’t heard the song yet, have a listen below:

Is the album shamelessly an admission of her reuniting with Chris Brown? Well while the couple/ she is keeping mum about the ‘romance’, we’ll be sure to hear all about it on the 19th of November ;)

David Guetta’s Titanium… the slowed down version

One of the big songs of 2012 so far happens to be David Guetta‘s new track with Sia. It’s called Titanium and it is but #winning. Having said that I bet you couldn’t imagine a slower version of this club banger right? Well turns out there is one, and it sounds fantastic. It’s by a guy name Collin McLoughlin. Have a listen above and let me know what you think.

Grammys 2012 – Guetta, Brown, Lil Wayne, Deadmau5… all in five minutes

David Guetta, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne on stage performing I Can Only Imagine… DeadMau5 and the Foo Fighters on the other side performing Rope and Raise You Weapon. Good mix of dance, urban, rock and electronic. What did you think of this performance?

David Guetta video interview

Two weeks ago one of the world’s leading DJ’s hit South African shores again. This time, he brought his friend Akon along. The two were out here as part of the St Yves Music Festival, where they performed in Cape Town and in Jozi. Ahead of the Jozi gig, I got to meet up with him to find out more about what to expect at the gigs. We also chatted about his new album, Nothing But The Beat and working with the likes of Nicki Minaj, Timbaland, Usher and many many more. Check out the interview above.

Is David Guetta coming to SA?

David Guetta is one of the biggest names in music. His last album One Love sold millions of copies worldwide and now he’s back with a brand new offering (a double-disc) called Nothing But The Beat. I’ve heard a couple of tracks, which feature the likes of Jennifer Hudson, Snoop Dogg and Usher to name a few and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy to hear the rest. Once I do the review will follow shortly.

The purpose of this post one of a speculative nature. The good people from glaceau_vitaminwater posted a Tweet earlier saying “david guetta is… ?”

Here’s how the conversation went:

You’ll see they say they “cannot confirm nor deny the rumours”… So can we say it’s safe to assume a tour to SA from one of the world’s leading DJs is on the cards? FOR SURE!

I’m waiting for feedback from his label. Let’s see.

Help get Goldfish onto the list of DJ Mag’s Hot 100

Goldfish is one of SA’s most loved outfits. More than that they’re one of our biggest exports too. Dom and Dave have held a residency gig at Pacha, Ibiza for the last couple of years. They’ve played alongside some of the biggest dance names in the world too like mr D Guetta and Fredde le Grand. So it’s fitting that they make the list of DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ Poll.

Rihanna’s new music

Music and the music industry is a very interesting place to be in and involved in at the moment. It would appear that the current trend in music of urban/dance crossover continues. We’ve heard Ne-Yo, Flo Rida, Kelly Rowland- all of urban music backgrounds teaming up with the likes of David Guetta. If we look in our very own backyard, Locnville are pioneering the electro-hop genre not just here, but internationally too. The latest song to surface online is the new one from Rihanna, who keeps churning out the hits time and time again. She’s yet again teamed up with Stargate to produce this one called (Only Girl) In The World- and this one is bound to climb the charts quickly. Another number one for the 22-year-old? I’d say so! Have a listen here.

This is why I respect and admire Ryan Seacrest so much. He, together with his team, got the exclusive world premier of the song, added the snippet and now the full length clip to his website. Because his 3million or so followers on Twitter obviously want to hear the new track, traffic to his site is extremely busy, so now it has been posted to his fan page on Facebook too. Seacrest has seen the demand for the song, he’s seen the potential for its viral capability and he knows how popular the track is going to be, so he has made both his and Rihanna’s fans happy by catering for everyone’s needs. Nice. When Seacrest needs a protege, he can always holler at me- he has what I want in a career. Action plan in place!

TG for Good Music- Taio Cruz/ Kelly Rowland

These two tracks (above and below) have a very similar sound to them… the fusion of urban and dance music is definitely the current trend. I dig it, huge fan of Kelly and David Guetta’s constant collabs and I think Taio Cruz is getting there too! TGIF peops, enjoy!

Flo Rida ft. David Guetta – Club Can’t Handle Me

This has got to be one of the coolest tracks around at the moment. It’s the new one from Flo Rida and it features possibly the biggest DJ in the world of dance music, Mr David Guetta. Take a listen.
