The second Comedy Central Africa Roast is coming. Following on from the success of the Roast of Steve Hofmeyr in 2012, the channel has decided to go at it again. Initially there were plans to roast Leon Schuster, but that has since changed. Now, the person in the roasting chair is none other than the “Sushi King”, Kenny Kunene.
It was announced a few weeks back that the Roastmaster duties would be conducted by UK comedian, Jimmy Carr. Dineo Ranaka, Somizi Mhlongo and Khanyi Mbau were announced as some of the roasters to join Jimmy and Kenny on stage. The latest list of stars set to grill Kunene include John Vlismas, Tumi Morake, Jack Parow, Rian Van Heerden and get this P.J. Powers. EPIC!!!
P.J. is a strong personality but she doesn’t strike me as someone who can be nasty to anyone, so that will be interesting. As for the others:
Dineo Ranaka – Opinionated and stands for what she believes. She’s going to rock
Somizi Mhlongo – Opinionated and funny. This will be good.
Khanyi Mbau – I’m looking forward to seeing what Khanyi brings to the table. She’s ditzy and fun, but will she grill him or be grilled?
John Vlismas – John never holds back. Expect controversial cussing at its best
Tumi Morake – Funny as all hell. She’ll grill Kenny, especially with the sushi jokes
Jack Parow – I don’t see this lasting very long. We might be pleasantly surprised… let’s see.
Rian van Heerden – The radio and TV personality is controversial and opinionated – Very smart too, so expect some funny, controversial but cleverly crafted statements from him.
The Comedy Central Roast of Kenny Kunene Fired up by Nando’s. If you want to attend the recording on the 3rd of April, tickets are available at Computicket or the Lyric Theatre Box Office, priced R 700.
