International DJ, Nickie “Cartel” Duku has deejayed in many countries around the globe and now he’s bringing his skills and talent to South African shores. Duku will be out in South Africa this April, as part of a series of gigs by cellphone company Mi-Fone.
DJ Nickie, who has deejayed in some of the famous clubs in party capital, Ibiza, rocked the party in both London and Dubai, was appointed a Music Brand Ambassador for Mi-Fone in 2013. This isn’t his first time to the continent, having played to crowds in both Mauritius and Kenya, but SA is a place he is looking forward to visiting.

One of the world’s hottest Celebrity DJ’s, Nickie “Cartel” Duku is set to bring the roof down in South Africa. Nickie Cartel has deejayed in the biggest nightclubs in the world, from London’s West End to the partystrips of Ibiza and Dubai keeping the masses on their feet. Hollywood’s A-listers invite him to their homes to play at their private parties.
Now, thanks to Africa’s fastest growing cellphone company, Mi-Fone, DJ Nickie Cartel will be in South Africa on 10 , 11 and 12 April 2014 to hit the decks at the exclusive launch parties of the latest model of the Mi-Fone. While he is scheduled to play to a carefully selected few at the Mi-Fone launch in Johannesburg, he is also expected to do a few club gigs at other top Johannesburg clubs.
DJ Nickie Cartel joined Mi-Fone in early 2013 as their Music Brand Ambassador. Being an International African DJ there was a clear win win relationship between the two to explore ways of fusing Modern Smartphone technology with a strong International Music presence. Mi-Fone and Nickie Cartel have conducted some of the best parties on the African continent such as the African Leadership Event in Mauritius in Nov 2013 and the recent Kenya Fashion High Tea Event in Nairobi
in Feb 2014. Mi-Fone now brings Nickie Cartel on his first time ever visit to the beautiful and soulful country of South Africa. The partnership has also evolved into the soon new product launch called Mi-DondoW – an innovative Portable Bluetooth Music speaker DJ Nickie Cartel first got onto the partying and club scene when he was working as an assistant to one of London’s top fashion editors, Edward Enninful, before branching out on his own to work as a styling artist to supermodel Tyra Banks and the boyband Blue. But he soon realised that his true passion was music and it wasn’t long before he started hitting the clubs with the sounds of house, R&B and hip-hop.
It was only when he started working with Timbaland in 2007 that the world took notice of DJ Nickie Cartel. And now South Africans can also look forward to some sizzling sounds from him.
