Minnie Dlamini is one of the biggest celebs in South Africa, and E! Africa has noticed that. So much so they enlisted her and Expresso’s Katlego Maboe to host the E! Beyond the Red Carpet: SAMAs special. Check out my Q&A with Minnie Dlamini below and be sure to watch the special tonight on channel 124 on DStv.
E! Entertainment is the powerhouse of entertainment… You’re a powerhouse yourself. How does being part of this channel in SA feel for you?
It’s awesome being able to expose what I do to the rest of Africa. I look at this as an opportunity to expand not only my personal brand but being a part of the movement that highlights, celebrates and promotes the African Entertainment industry.
– Through a platform like this, what are you hoping viewers will take from such programming?
I’m hoping the viewer will see how far we’ve come as an industry but also realize that there’s more to be done in terms of development.
– Would we ever see a Minnie Dlamini reality show on E! Africa?
I’m not sure, it’s never really been my thing. I honestly don’t think my life is that interesting I’d probably go nuts. I love my privacy.
– Three red carpet tips you have for your fellow celebs, friends, followers and fans?
Start with the dress, the rest falls into place. Plan every detail hair, makeup, shoes and accessories. Lastly it’s not easy walking the carpet to be scrutinized (and people can be mean) so make sure YOU are happy with what you look like. Then the rest doesn’t matter.
– Working with the likes of Katlego Maboe on a project like this was….
Katlego and I always find each other we work together quite often and it’s always such a great reunion. I love his genuine drive and passion it’s very rare to work with someone who is not self-consumed and OUR main goal is to make a great production where we both shine in our own ways.
– What else doing Miss Minnie have on the go?
A few new hats, but all will be revealed in due course.
