SAMA winner, Tresor to open for SEAL on his SA tour

Unknown-2

Fresh off his SAMA wins at the weekend, singer/ songwriter Tresor is set to open for soul singer Seal, as part of his SA tour. The tour kicks off this weekend in Johannesburg, at the Ticketpro Dome. Seal, Tresor and their respective teams will move on to Durban on the 14th and then in Cape Town on the 16th.

It has been an incredible journey for Tresor. He left the DRC after losing his parents at the age of 17. He worked as a car guard from some time, before getting his big break into the music industry. He has since gone on to release his debut album VII, which has garnered attention both locally and abroad. Mumford & Sons to tour South Africa in 2016

MumfordAndSons_SATour2016

Monday has officially been made, thanks to Mumford & Sons. According to their Facebook page, they are on their way to South Africa next year. Happiness. Here’s what they had to say:

“**South Africa**

The last eight years have taken us to some incredible parts of the World, from Goa to Tasmania… Orkney to Walla Walla. The fact that we get to visit these places, meet fascinating and inspiring people, and play our songs everywhere we go is pretty much the whole reason we started this band in the first place – you guys know how much we love touring, we’ve mentioned it enough times!

Well, it is with great excitement, that we can announce one of our most anticipated adventures yet, South Africa! Many times we’ve tried to make it work, but this coming January, it’s happening and we couldn’t be happier about it. We’ve got a handful of shows across the Country, some really great artists sharing those stages with us.

We know it’s been a long time coming and we hope to see you there to toast the occasion.
Long Live! T, W, M & B. x

Mumford & Sons release The Wolf

Mumford & Sons

Last year I recall reading an article about Mumford & Sons deciding to ‘call it a day’, saying that Babel was their last album. Coincidentally it happened to be only their second one. I was quite shocked, astounded really. There is something very special, distinct and incredible about Marcus Mumford’s voice and their music is just so refreshing. They really blew up and with the success of Sigh No More and Babel, multiple awards including the coveted Album of the Year award at the Grammys, the band really seemed to be soaring.

Well that’ll teach me (and you if you were fooled) to not believe everything you read. They just took a break, understandably, but now they’re back and gearing up to release their brand new album called Wilder Mind. The album is expected to drop on the 4th of May, whoop!

Last week they dropped the second single from that album, which is called The Wolf. Have a listen below:

Pet Shop Boys to headline Sónar Cape Town

unnamed

The Lumineers, Jill Scott, Foo Fighters and now the Pet Shop Boys… Those are some of the international artists I’ve pencilled into my diary for December. It was announced earlier that the Pet Shop Boys will be headlining Sónar Cape Town Opening Night on thr 15th of December, but don’t worry Jozi peops… They’re all coming here. In fact you’ll get to see them on the 12th of December. Durban readers, you’re even getting a gig for a change J

The gigs will take place at the Nasrec Expo Centre on the 12th and the Good Hope Centre on the 15th. This is followed by a gig in Durban on the 19th.

I’m told their show is abolustely incredible and one of the best you will see live. With 10 studio albums and 50-million album sales to date, you can believe it. And this will be the first time they’re playing in SA, so they’ll definitely bring it.

Belgian brothers 2manydjs will perform their highly anticipated DJ set after Pet Shop Boys’ performance on the Sónar Cape Town Opening Night and at A Taste of Sónar Johannesburg.
