Reviewing 2013 and looking forward to 2014 with Khabonina

0016

One of the most awesome ladies in the industry has to be this one, Khabonina Qubeka. She has talent for days, as an actress, a singer, a dancer and now a fitness freak too 🙂 I love what she does and I’m hoping we’ll get to see her on TV again soon, her acting is impeccable especially when she plans a bad girl, but outside of the playing characters like Maxine, she’s one of the nicest people I know. So here is my Q&A with the one and only, Khaboniba:
JVB: It has been a good year for you. Take us through some of your highs; your winning moments in 2013.
Khabonina: Wow! My 2013 started on a high note. A. My Annual Birthday Show in Jan. I celebrate my Birthday by throwing Birthday Shows in different provinces, this time, we rocked Mpumalanga (Witbank) & shared it with the disadvantaged kids of the community.

B. Then I went Skiing in Austria Zel Am See ! My snow plough is priceless! I’m thee black SkiiMaster!

C. Being nominated for playing the devious Maxine on “The Wild” at the Royalty Soapy Awards.

D. Releasing my 1st Fitness Dvd.
Launching My Online Store www.khabostore.co.za

E. Being part of the IOM South Africa’s “I’m a Migrant Project”

F. Invited to OWLAG (Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls) to give a motivational talk to the girls.

JVB:Was there a moment, an experience or something significant this year that made you go ‘WOW” or that changed your perspectives/ plans?

Khabonina: YES! Ok wait, most of my days are filled with WOW’s as I’m a huge fan of Life! Lol ! But releasing my own Fitness dvd “Julukment” really made me realize that Life is what YOU make it and limiting yourself is limiting your life! I have a new lease on life , I am on my way to doing SO much more!

JVB: What does 2014 hold for you?

Khabonina: Oh man! The question is infact … what ‘I’ hold for 2014. Lol ! The biggest lesson I’ve learned , esp being an artist in SA… Don’t wait to be ‘Hired’ hire yourself … ‘Book yourself’ … CREATE CREATE CREATE !!! I’ve created some amazing projects for 2014 , FITNESS in S.A will never be the same !!

JVB: Any tips and/ or tricks from you to your fans to get through 2014?
Khabonina: To be honest, there are no tricks nor tips here lol. Live life with love , positivety , passion and enthusiasm ! if you don’t stand for something , you’ll fall for everything!

JVB: Any last thanks or New years wishes for your fans?

Khabonina: Tjoooooo! Jase’ I truly want to thank my Twitter & Facebook friends , all my online supporters for a great & fun year, for visiting my website, reading my blogs and supporting my projects! May they have a blessed & prosperous New Year & may we never loose our “notty” !!!

Sing for Madiba

Happy Birthday Nelson Mandela. We love you, Tata and we thank you for all your have done for out nation.

Celebrate Mandela Day and Sean Paul this Sunday

The 18th of July is a day we celebrate in South Africa. The reason? It’s former president, Nelson Mandela’s birthday. He will be 92 years old. Now while he spent 67 years fighting for human rights, equality among everyone and making a difference in the world; Madiba and his team have called for us to spare just 67 minutes for those less fortunate than ourselves. You can read newspapers to the elderly or you can go and help nurses and social workers feed a few of our younger members of society. I haven’t decided on what I will be doing on Sunday, but I will share my experience with you when I’m done.

So that is what Sunday will hold for many, but it also sees the launch of the new Big Brother season on DStv. To help kick off the launch of the show, dancehall star, Sean Paul will perform three of his songs. I saw Sean Paul performing in 2007 at the X-Games in Aspen and he was but awesome. So Africa, you’re in for a treat. What a great way to kick off the new, All-Stars season of the hit show. I’m wondering who will be there, vying for the $200 000 prize money? Perhaps Lerato from South Africa? How about the very controversial Tatiana? Let’s see this weekend, when the show gets going. You can follow Big Brother on Twitter @BigBroAfrica and online at http://www.mnetafrica.com/bigbrother

Smiles for Madiba

Big up to my boy/colleague Moeketsie Moticoe for hooking this slideshow up! Check it out here

Madiba is the man. Both I and you know that… Wishing him a very happy 91st birthday. I hope he has a quiet celebration. He works too much now 🙂 Happy birthday Nelson Mandela.

The day will honour and celebrate Nelson Mandela in true style and citizens all over the globe have been encouraged to take 67 minutes out of our busy schedules, to do any form of community work. The significance of 67? It represents 67 years of uninterrupted and selfless service in the course of his extraordinary life, to the people of South Africa and the world.

Here are some of the artists you can expect to see on stage: Taliphani (Venda Dance),T.K Dancers ( Tsonga Dance), Sechaba, Winnie Khumalo ,RJ Benjamin ,Chommie, Arthur, Nhlanhla Nciza, Zamajobe, Kwela Tebza, Jonas Gwagwa, Kunle Ayo (Nigeria), DJ Sbu, Stoan Seate, Florence Masebe, Meshack Mavuso. Proceedings will start at 9am CAT- and if you’re in any part of the world, where celebrations will be happening, holler at us… share your experience of Mandela Day with us. I know the city of New York will be hosting an awesome event, but if you know of anything else, holler!

Firstly it was her birthday yesterday so a very happy birthday to Rihanna. It’s clearly not the best time to celebrate, but I hope she can muster up a smile or two in celebration of her 21st birthday. Her friends have shown her love in a local Barbados newspaper called The Nation Newspaper, in which a message was sent out:

“Happy 21 Birthday to Robyn Rihanna Fenty. Continue reading “Rihanna 'Remains Strong'”
