Jeannie D launches her own fragrance

Jeannie D
She’s one of the most bubbly people on TV. Her infectious presenting style and laughter, coupled with her superstar looks have made Jeannie D one of the most loved South African celebrities. Now the star is adding another feather to her cap in the form of a fragrance. Jeannie D has launched her signature perfume called Jeannie in a Bottle. She describes the fragrance as something of a ‘sophisticated’ nature, which sums her up just perfectly.
“This is an absolute dream come true for me. I just love the jasmine-floral profile of this fragrance and have no doubt that others will absolutely adore it too”,

The fragrance was developed by Luzi Switzerland and is packaged by Creighton Products in Durban. She together with her partners at Forma Cosmetics sifted through over 50 combinations before settling on sophisticated floral and spicy-woody middle notes. There’s also a little bit of amber, musk, tonka bean and vanilla. If you’re interested in purchasing the fragrance you can buy it at www.forma-cosmetics.com from R329.99. It will also be available at Clicks stores on the 1st of December 2013, just in time for Christmas 😉

Hopefully when Jeannie and Janez are finished shooting this season of Top Travel, she’ll be available for an interview with me to discuss this more. I’ll keep you posted on that front, but for now a big congratulations must go out to Jeannie!!

2013 MTV VJ Search rolls into Durbs

image001If you want to know one thing about it, it’s that I always wanted to be an MTV VJ. I had aspirations of being a VJ on the hugely popular show, TRL… I mean who didn’t want to interview some of the biggest names in the game, live and direct from Times Square in New York City (only the best city in the world might I add). Sadly, the closest I got to that was actually being an audience member back in 2007 and shortly after the MTV pulled the plug on the show.

The dream of working in NYC is still there and maybe it will be more behind the scenes at MTV, but that’s a side note. If you’re young, funky, fresh and fly and you want to work at MTV Base then here is your chance. The music network is once again embarking on its VJ search and you could be the chosen one. Auditions take place in Umhlanga this weekend and if you think you have what it takes to join the likes of Sizwe, Nomuzi Mabena and many others then head on down to Gateway Theatre of Shopping this Saturday. The former Dogg now Lion said he was excited about heading out to SA again. “I’m honoured to bring this important message of peace and love to South Africa,” said Snoop Lion. “This is the motherland and a place of so much history and strife. Media Statement: MasterChef

This week’s South Africa’s first MasterChef was crowned. His name is Deena Naidoo. The 45-year-old was pretty stoked and emotional when the news was announced on Tuesday last week. His reaction was genuine and he seemed so grateful for the all the prizes that amounted to over R8million…. and then came the Citizen’s article on Friday. They claimed he wasn’t happy with the situation and how things had rolled out, particularly with the Mondovino restaurant prize. A classic case of being misquoted perhaps? Here’s an official statement from M-Net and Tsogo Sun:

RESPONSE TO ARTICLE IN CITIZEN NEWSPAPER

Friday, 27 July, 2012

M-Net and Tsogo Sun refute claims made by the Citizen newspaper today that MasterChef South Africa winner Deena Naidoo is disappointed with his prize package, and that he will not be getting his own restaurant. This is factually incorrect.

The total restaurant prize included (amongst other things) the full-time running and rebranding of the floor space. This arrangement was rent free, for two years. However, M-Net and Tsogo Sun structured the sponsorship to permit the MasterChef winner to choose between various options of participation in the restaurant, knowing that the winner might not be able to take up such a fantastic prize.

Deena elected a joint venture operation where he will share in the restaurant profits and partake in the rebranding and relaunch of the restaurant. This will run for two years. This decision was based on the fact that Deena, his wife and children are unable to relocate to Johannesburg at this time.

“I consider myself privileged and am extremely grateful to have won this prize. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” says Naidoo. “At no point have I ever been disappointed with the arrangement I have with M-Net and Tsogo Sun. In fact, they have been extremely accommodating and flexible and are allowing me the chance to run this restaurant whilst keeping my current job in Durban. Tsogo Sun appreciates that my family comes first. I couldn’t be more excited to embark on this journey with them.”

M-Net and Tsogo Sun explained the terms and options available to the Top 2 contestants while the series was still being filmed, and all parties were fully aware of what they would be entering into, should they win the prize, which consists of: R250 000 in cash, a brand new car, a trip to Italy and an Italian cooking course, a year’s free supply of wine and a sommelier course, as well as the Tsogo Sun restaurant opportunity.

Naidoo adds, “I never expected to have R8 million in my bank account and any reports that suggest this are simply untrue. I wanted to clear up the misconception that this might be the case, and in the process, it was asserted that I’ve been let down by M-Net and Tsogo Sun. This is inaccurate.”

Naidoo will embark on his restaurant adventure in November.

MTV Base is once again embarking on another VJ search that will allow the winner to join the ranks of previous winner Sizwe Dhlomo and Fikile “Fix” Moeti. Auditions around SA kick off in July, the 14th and the 21st to be precise.

Here’s what you will need to do in your audition: Imagine you’re live on MTV Base and need to present to the millions of MTV Base viewers across the continent. You’ll need to cover the following:

– Give a short presentation about yourself;
– Review your favourite artist and your favourite music video by this artist;
– Introduce this music video to the millions of viewers watching MTV base;
– Improvise and just be yourself, as we want to see what YOU are about.

It wont be an easy ride. The judges are some of the most respected people in the business and so don’t take this lying down. Live presenter Bonang Matheba, Hip-Hop star HHP, TV presenter and DJ Azania Mosaka and MTV Creative Director Tim Horwood will all be on the judging panel, so be prepared and be ready to wow!

The Queen B said, “I am so excited to be a judge in the 2012 MTV Base VJ Search.  It’s tough to break into the entertainment business, so this is a fantastic opportunity. I started my own TV career at the tender age of 15 so I know how much raw, untapped talent is out there just waiting to be found… I know we’re going to find someone out of this world!” Continue reading “Details for the MTV Base VJ search”
