Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars want to UpTown Funk you up

Mark Ronson is back and bringing the funk to the forefront… In his latest track, UpTown Funk, Ronson has enlisted the help of the awesome Bruno Mars. The track is taken off the hit producer’s forthcoming album, ‘Uptown Special’ which is due for release on January 26th on Columbia Records. He’ll be the musical guest on SNL on the 22nd, where he and Bruno will perform the track and I reckon it’s going to be a super funky performance. Make a date with them and more on this release to follow soon.

Hunger Games: Mocking Jay teaser trailer

The Hunger Games is a franchise I’ve really enjoyed (both books and films). I find the stories gripping, entertaining and refreshing – be gone vampire franchise, be gone 😉 Anyway, the stars of The Hunger Games are back at it and preparing for the two part finale. The first teaser trailer for The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 1 has hit the net and you can watch it below:

Here’s a little more as far as a description for the film goes:

“The worldwide phenomenon of the Hunger Games continues to set the world on fire with the Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, which finds Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in District 13 after she literally shatters the games forever. Under the leadership of President Coin (Julianne Moore) and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and a nation moved by her courage.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Danny Strong and Peter Craig and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the third in a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins that has over 65 million copies in print in the U.S. alone.”

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay part 1 hits cinemas on the 21st of November!

Survivor SA: Champions – Graham wins

PRESS RELEASE: Survivor South Africa: Champions

Graham Is The Ultimate Survivor

Captain Corne Krige Scoops Viewer Vote

Graham Jenneker (29) from Bellville, Cape Town, was named as the Ultimate Survivor during the live finale of M-Net’s Survivor South Africa: Champions tonight (18 May). The Financial Manager picked up the majority of votes from the Juara Jury – and the R1 Million prize – after surviving 27 days of tough challenges, calamitous blindsides and harsh conditions on a remote island in the South China Sea.

In a Survivor first, sporting legends Corne Krige and Mark Fish led the Selatan and Utara tribes, with a viewer vote choosing the winning Captain. Survivor SA viewers chose Corne as the winner, handing him a prize of over R500 000.

Graham told the Jury that he had played the game as a champion should – and the way a winner would. He said he had made an impact from Day 1, telling them that if he were sitting in their places, he’d look at how the Final 3 had played the game. “A champion isn’t someone who rides on coat tails, they fight on the front line, make an impact, change the game and forge their path – and that’s how I believe I played the game,” he said.

His overall game and powerful final speech were enough to win him 5 votes from the Jury and Captains, with Buhle picking up 3 and Sivu, 2. With the Jury given the chance to quiz the Final 3, Moyra had asked Graham outright what she should do, while Solly told him he’d “messed up” 25 days of immaculate play by not going against his word and voting Sivu out at the previous Tribal Council. David asked him what his most depressing moment in the game had been, to which he replied: “Right now”. He challenged the perception that his fellow Final 3 contestants were strong competitors. “There’s a lot of talk about these two being strong players. Buhle said she made a big move – I’d correct and say she only attempted it. Sivu had a big blindside, but he was lucky to find the Idol. Could they have engineered a move?” When Altaaf asked him if he’d have played the game any differently if no money was at stake, he responded that the promise of a better life had driven him on and that providing for the future played a big role in his decision-making. Zavion quizzed him along similar lines, asking how the R1 Million prize would change his life. “I guess its no surprise I want to get married and start a family. A Million Rand wouldn’t just promise a wedding, but also provide for my future family. If I can provide the best for them, that means the world,” he said.

The two Captains also weighed in with their thoughts on the Final 3’s game play. Mark revealed that he’d had his mind made up about who he wanted to vote for when he walked into Tribal Council, but had changed his mind because of “little things that have happened”. Corne said that he’d be basing his vote on the person he believed most deserved the title of Ultimate Survivor. “I’ll vote for the person I’ve seen give everything in every challenge, be an absolute sportsman, and play the game as it should be played – ruthlessly”.

5FM… Fresh and Goode

Gareth’s gone… we get that. So 5FM management clearly had to think long and hard about who would take over the popular breakfast slot. Well they’ve done their thinking and the replacement is? SURPRISE… DJ Fresh. Fresh is no stranger to morning radio, so I have no doubt in my mind that he will be a fantastic mornings host. His show starts at 5am according to a tweet from 5 earlier. He’ll be doing the 5-8am slot.

Earlier this week I told you that DJ Warras (of YFM fame) will be taking over the evenings slot, leaving Roger Goode with a one way ticket to the afternoon drive slot. This is an interesting move for me and clearly for many others too. Roger is fun, playful… Perfect for the evenings. As an afternoon host? Well I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. You can still be fun, don’t get me wrong. I’m just not completely sold at this stage. We’ll see come the 5th of May.

So they’re changing the slots around a bit. Who takes over the either 8-11/ 8-12 slot? Are they trying to hook the audience from early and then keep the listeners there, so as to break the reign of Queen B across the hallway at Metro? If they hook the audience and promise an epic alternative, it could be interesting. You’ll see an interesting trend occurring on Twitter now for news reader, Poppy. It’s called… #WheresPoppy. Well Poppy isn’t going anywhere, but there will be a change. What it will be I don’t know? Again I can speculate and say she might get her own show after Fresh? Maybe she’ll co-host with Roger, and go head-to-head with her pal Anele? What do you think? All very interesting and I guess what I’m doing now is what they were hoping for, talking about it and all.

Personally? I think 5 has an agenda, which I guess we’ll see unfolding soon. My vibe right now though is seeing what Cliff Central has for us… I’m VERY, VERY interested in that venture!

Drake releases Days in the East

Is Drake’s latest song dedicated to his rumoured to be lover, Rihanna? I like them as a couple. They make sweet music together, so maybe they’ll be a sweet couple too. This is Drake’s new track called ‘Days in the East’. It is produced by PartyNextDoor.
