JVB: You’re both the South African ambassadors / curators for the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project. What has the build up to the big night been like?
FeU: The build up has been be an amazing experience. Smirnoff is a huge brand globally and the interaction with the people on the ground gave us more insight about what South Africans really think makes our nightlife unique and special.
JVB: Cape Town will be transformed into a Berlin inspired night. Have you been to Berlin? If so, what is everyone in for?
FeU: I, Euphonik) have been to Berlin before and it was an epic experience. We are looking forward to everything that they have sent to us and to witness this once in a life time event with South African party goers.
JVB: You will be here, but I’m heading off to Berlin. Is there anything you would like me to do, take on behalf of you and SA? A track, a boeri roll?
FeU: More than anything I think the facial expressions of the Germans whilst Gazelle is on stage would be something nice to see.
JVB: What makes a truly South African nightlife experience?
FeU: From travelling the world and seeing what the night life is like in other countries we would say that’s a very difficult question because of South Africa’s diversity so we would say that the diversity element is what makes it special. People in the township, urban areas and even rurals have far different ways of enjoying the night.
JVB: Berlin is rad, but what one other city from the list would you have exchanged with?
FeU: Berlin is definitely rad! It is perfect because Germany is very influential when it comes to electronic music. Personally we’d like to see this project happening again & maybe SA experiencing a swap with one of the South American countries.
