You’ll know by now that Snoop Lion is jetting into Durban in the next day or so. This is ahead of Saturday’s MTV Africa All Stars concert, which is taking place at the People’s Park, Moses Mabhida Stadium. I’m heading down on Saturday to hopefully catch Snoop on camera, as well as some of the other acts. Side note, I’m happy the Durbanites are getting a concert for once.. I know y’all often feel left out, so here’s to making you happy*
And with that, I can let those of you in Cape Town and in Jozi know that Snoop will be in your hood too. He’ll be out at the Ellis Park Arena on Sunday evening, followed by a concern at the Grand Area GrandWest on the 21st. AKA and Jack Parow will be the support acts for ‘the Lion’.

The annual Marie Claire Naked Edition hits the shelves today. Each year, some of the countries biggest names take off their kit to pledge their support to a campaign, and this year is no different. This year’s proceeds raised will go to the Burn Foundation, an organisation, which assists burn victims and the caregivers involved. They teach people about burn prevention as well as reintegration back into society and schools.Visit their official site –> http://burnfoundation.org.za/
In the video below you get to hear more about the campaign as well as catching a glimpse of some of the celebs who have participated this year. If you don’t know who they are, you might recognise their voices (like me) and if all else fails, go out and grab yourself a copy of the magazine today.
We’ve seen the cover stars ie parents-to-be Jack Parow and Jenna Pieterson but who else is featured? From what I can hear, it seems like model Lyndall Jarvis and her surfing champ boyfriend Jordy Smith are one of the couples. It looks like Mzansi Magic’s hilarious man, Trevor Gumbi is there too and Heat cover stars Jacques Terre‘Blanche and his new wife Charné might be there too. Am I right? Well we’ll have to wait and see in a bit .

Over the weekend I attended my fourth Joburg Day. The annual music festival is organized by regional station 94.7 Highveld Stereo. The guys do a fantastic job each year, by showcasing some of South Africa’s best musical talent. It’s grown so substantially in recent years that the organisers have changed venues to accommodate the bigger crowds. For the second year running the event has been held at the Riversands Farm, north of the city. In my four years of going I haven’t known it to be sold out, but this year Joburg Day was officially sold out. Over 16 000 were there. Nice. I say over 16 000 because it was packed and I’m sure the security guards were a bit lenient at the entrance (cash in pocket). That wasn’t a major issue though.
My friends and I headed off to the Castle beer tent, where we sat in the sun listening to the music coming from the stage. As you’ll see in the picture on the right, my good mate Mike was heavily influenced by one of the stars on the lineup, Mr Jack Parow. I was so bleak I missed him. He was on stage early in the day because he had another gig. Oh the life of a rockstar. There were a couple of Jack Parow inspired outfits come to think of it… “Cooler as ekke”
