One of my favourite musical outfits out of Mzansi is Mi Casa. They started off singing about “These Streets,” which resonated with millions of South Africans and scored the band an instant following on social media, TV, radio, print… everywhere. Their second album Su Casa dropped just over two years ago and the hit singles just kept coming. So much so that when I was invited to their third album launch, I was completely astounded when J’Something told me it had been over two years since their last release.
The guys have been traveling, gigging, doing other collabos, doing cooking shows and somehow they managed to squeeze in 25 new tracks on their double disc, Home Sweet Home album. I’m still listening to all of the tracks, but I have my early favourites in Chocolat and the amazing Chasing The Sun. The first single is of course Chocolat, and the video has just dropped online. You can watch it below:
It’s J’s directorial debut, and I think he did a superb job. Great song, great video, great album… Mi Casa, you’re just great. Unashamed stan 😉
PS, J will be on my Cliffcentral.com show tomorrow at 11 am. Tune in!
Let the power of social media shine… If you follow MiCasa’s J’Something on Instagram, you’ll know he’s not only the outfit’s talented vocalist, but he’s also quite the chef. The star posted pics of his delicious culinary feasts and clearly that caught the eyes of some TV producers. The reason? The star has his own cooking show now and it’s called get this… #Something’s Cooking. So clever, so smart and I can’t wait to watch it.
Something’s Cooking will debut on Mzansi Magic on the 22nd of October at 19:00. Over the course of 13 weeks, you’ll get to see where his love for food and cooking came from. On the show he says, “When I don’t sing I cook. Life is a classic recipe of hard work, good friends and a perfect grilled sarmie. Something’s Cooking is who I am, not perfect but passionate.”
This is so great. He’s one of the nicest guys in the industry and clearly very talented too. I’ll be setting my reminder on my PVR… Do the same!
I’ll be there tonight, shooting for a new TV I’m involved in and I’ll be hanging with the guys from Mi Casa just before. Mi Casa Su Casa… Come play folks, it’ll be fun! Plus… this album is amazeballs!! I’ll have more on it to follow but Bora Viver, Feel the Love, Joka, and Africa Shine are some of the early winners for me! Stay tuned, more on Mi Casa’s Su Casa to come!
Do you want to start your week off on a good note? I did and I want you to too… and here’s how I propose you do just that. Watch Mi Casa’s new video for their track Jika. The song is taken off their forthcoming album, Su Casa which drops on the 16th. CANNOT WAIT!!!
