Gone are the days where South Africa is “too far to visit” or “too small to tour”… South Africa is now firmly on the map for top celebrities to visit, tour, film and holiday in. Take today for example… We have Rihanna hanging out in Cape Town (check her Instagram feed to see pics). Keri Hilson and Anthony Hamilton were hanging out in Macufe over the weekend. Idris Elba was jamming it up at DStv’s Delicious Food & Music Festival two weeks ago and now Taylor Swift, Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Katie Holmes and a few other big Hollywood A-listers are apparently in the country too. They’ll be getting to work on a new film called The Giver, which is set for release in August next year. I also know that John Cleese was here shooting the third installment of Spud… SA is #Winning!!!
If you’re in the Cape Town area, be on the lookout for Ms. Swift and crew. I’d love to get some pics of them, but I’m in the Joziwood at the moment, so I’ll leave it up to you. Send them to me on email@example.com or tweet me: @JasonVonBerg.
There are loads of other events coming up in the next couple of months that will see big stars heading to our shores including:
Mandela – Long Walk To Freedom world premiere
Dave Matthews Band live in concert
Nickleback live in concert (expect Avril Lavigne to be here too)
Bryan Adams live in concert
Big Sean live in concert
Kendrick Lamar live in concert
As promised, here are my interviews with the stars from The Hangover Part II. Besides interviewing the likes of Morgan Freeman, Annie Lennox and Keri Hilson, this is yet another career highlight for me! Loved the opportunity, the experience thanks to Nu Metro and Warner Bros. and I hope I’ll get the opportunity to do many more of these. Hold thumbs, like it and spread the word 😉
Following his Good Morning America interview and subsequent meltdown, singer Chris Brown has been quick to do damage control, by issuing a public apology for the way he acted earlier this week. You can read the full apology below:
“First and foremost I want to Apologize to anybody who was startled in the office, anybody who was offended or really was disappointed at my actions because I was disappointed in the way I acted. You know, a lot of people don’t know what went down. You know obviously when I do shows or when I do interviews we always send out like a talking points sheet. If the network or whoever isn’t compliant with what we wanna do so we can equally accomplish a goal, we usually kind of back out and wait till a better situation.”

Loving this track right now. It’s the new song from Keri Hilson called Pretty Girl Rock. The track is written by Ne-Yo and Chuck Harmony and is taken off her second album, No Boys Allowed. She’s looking real good too, but damn how the wardrobe changes in this video? Well there’s a bit of logic behind them… She’s paying tribute to some of the biggest names in music including, Josephine Baker, Dorothy Dandridge, the Andrews Sisters, Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Janet Jackson, and TLC. See how well you know the legends. I think Keri does Diana Ross really well- she looks amazing in that scene. *Dreamgirls* Good tune Miss Keri. Pretty Girls do Rock… you own it!
Keri Hilson -Breaking Point(clean) – No Boys Allowed by The Chamber Group
Keri Hilson has been hard at work with her new album, the follow up to “In My World”. This is the first single off her ‘No Boys Allowed’ album (due at the end of the year). It’s produced by Timbaland, who seems to have ‘returned the favour’. Speaking about the new track Hilson says, “The song is about that breaking point that every woman gets to when the excuses given by boys are no longer accepted. Keri comments “If you’re not man enough to step to the plate, then keep it moving.”
In addition to working with Timbaland again, she’ll also be working with the likes of Polow Da Don again. She recently told MTV that her travels around the world, particularly Africa have steered her music into a new direction, “Everywhere I travel, I get music from that region of the world. I’ve been to Nigeria, I’ve been to South Africa. I gather music from these regions, and African music is very drum-heavy. It was very inspiring. I’m definitely going to be using some of that inspiration.” To quote a few lyrics from the lovely Keri… “I Like”. The video for Breaking Point is due to be shot next month. Stay tuned.
First single off T.I.’s forthcoming album called King Uncaged. Unanimous we like?
Featuring The Fray, The Black Eyed Peas, Keri Hilson, Flo RIda, Jay Sean, Kings Of Leon, Lady Gaga, Jamie Foxx, Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson and many many more. It’s brilliant! Love it. Big up to DJ Earworm
