Sheezus Lily Allen… the video

UK pop singer, Lily Allen’s new song is here. It’s called Sheezus… “Give me that crown bitch, I wanna be Sheezus”. Listen to the lyrics. If she isn’t complimenting some of her female contemporaries, she’s dissing them. You’ll see what I mean. I do love me some Lily Allen, but this one’s a bit weird. Your thoughts?

Loving Lily Allen’s new song (statement)

Lily Allen has been called ‘mouthy’ and she’s not shy or scared to tell people what she thinks about them or in this case about the entertainment industry. Her latest song (which I love) is called Hard Out Here (watch above). In the video you’ll see Lily singing about the pressures of being perfect and fake in this industry in order to sell more and get your name, your brand out there. It also deals with the objectification of women in the industry.  The mother of two recently opened up to Esquire Magazine about this fact saying,

“I feel like when I was growing up and dreaming of being a pop star, it was the days of Britpop when things felt authentic and anarchic, and people were taking drugs and having a lot of fun and having sex with each other and it wasn’t fake, it was real. So excuse me if I found it a bit disappointing when I arrived and it was a bunch of sterile f**king botoxed idiots that stank of desperation.”

I really need to get myself a copy of the full article because I’m sure she’s got a lot more to say about this. You’ll also remember that Lily decided to ‘retire’ from music some three years ago, but what better way to come out of retirement than to release a song and a statement like this. It also kind of reminds me of this video from Pink.

Sidebar, did anyone see Lily in Cape Town recently?

Watch P!nk’s new video with Lily Allen

P!nk‘s latest single off her number one selling album, The Truth About Love is out. It’s called True Love and it features the awesomeness that is Lily Allen (Sidebar, I wish she would release some new music. I be loving her long time). Anyway the video for the song dropped this week and it’s really rad. Nice to see P!nk’s little girl in the video too, she’s very cute.

The video was directed  by Sophie Muller, who also has Rihanna’s “Stay”, Alicia Keys’ “Girl On Fire” and Lana Del Rey’s “Young and Beautiful videos to her name. It was shot in Munich in mid June. Nice one P!nk.

Listen to Pink’s new single, ‘Try’

P!nk‘s new single, Try is so much of awesome. Loving it. It’s the follow up to the top 10, smash hit Blow Me (One Last Kiss) and is taken off her forthcoming album, The Truth About Love, which drops on the 18th. I’m missing the listening session on Thursday because I’ll be traveling abroad, but hoping to get a copy once I’m back in the country.

Watch P!nk’s new video for Blow Me (One Last Kiss)

P!nk‘s new song is climbing the radio charts and the video is set to do exactly the same, as it hits music channel playlists. It’s online, it’s rad and you can watch it above.

P!nk’s The Truth About Love due out on September 17th

The ever cool P!nk is another big artist set to release a new album this year. It has been a while since her  2008 release called Funhouse,  but the wait is almost over. Her new offering will be out on the 17th of September. The album, her sixth, is titled The Truth About Love… or what she likes to describe, the dark, the light, the happy and the sad sides of love.

On this album she has teamed up with Greg Kurstin, who is famous for his work with Lily Allen, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Foster The People, as well as Dan Wilson (the guy who made Adele’s Someone Like You what it is today). And what would a P!nk record be without her partners in musical crime, Max Martin and Shellback, Billy Mann and Butch Walker.

There will be more on this album to follow in the build up to release, so stay tuned. In the mean time, if you missed it, have a listen to the first single off the album below. It’s called Blow Me (One Last Kiss)

The Lovely Lily

Lily Allen is currently in South Africa… I like her original songs and songwriting, her FU attitude to all her haterz and in general I just dig her vibe. So obviously I’m following her on Twitter and on Saturday, to my excitement I saw she was in South Africa. In fact her Tweet said as follows:
” Its quite cloudy in jo’burg, still they’ve got nandos ………….”

I replied, asking her to come hang out (haha I wish) but I would seriously dig to meet her, find out more about her music- both new and older albums- and more. She never replied, but I have been following her trip progress and all her Twitpic updates. Awesome stuff and one of the photos she posted of her with an elephant in the back ground is beautiful. She looks hot hot hot! Anyways so there’s my little Lily punt. In celebration of her visit and her new album “It’s Not Me, It’s You” out in stores now… here is the new track from Lily:
