Some 750 riders from all over the globe are putting their minds, their legs and their mountain bikes to the test for this year’s joBerg2c event, brought to you by Old Mutual. The riders will ride the beloved country, doing some 900km from Gauteng, through the (ice cold) Free State and end off in in KwaZulu Natal next Saturday. I’m on the road and documenting some of the action. So here are a few pictures from this, the 5th, joBerg2c event. More to come in the next week!
I’m pretty excited and a little nervous about my next half marathon. In nine days time, I’ll be tackling the world’s most beautiful race – the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon. I’m not quite ready for a full on marathon, let alone an ultra, so 21kms will do just fine. I’m running in aid of the Put Foot Foundation, a organisation dedicated to putting @ShoesOnFeet on the youngsters in our society. Often so many children will have to walk several kilometres to get to school and many of them are doing so barefoot. With winter coming up, you can understand the need to get shoes on their little feet and so I’m very happy to be helping them out alongside Old Mutual.
The team set me a challenge of R10,000.00, which I’ve already raised. SUPER STOKED about that. In fact, I’m now sitting on R11,670.00. That’s about 58 pairs of shoes. I have 9 days to go and hopefully I’ll be able to raise a little more. If you’re keen, click here. It’s quick, easy and it really is for a good cause. R10 is good. A little bit goes a long way and I would be very grateful too!
If anyone has done the half marathon and you have some tips for me, holler. I’m no pro, so your tips/ tricks are most welcome 🙂 If you’re running, I’ll see you on the road!
