Audiences are used to seeing him on the glitzy magazine show, Top Billing, but now he’s roughing it out. Nico Panagio is the new host of Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina . I caught up with him between filming of the reality show at the Indigo Bay Hotel in Mozambique recently to find out more about the show, the experience and what we can look forward to. Check out The Von Vodcast above for more.

Atlantis resident, Sasha-Lee Davids is the new South African Idol. The star beat out her fellow contestant, Jason Hartman to scoop the title. The event was star-studded, hosting the likes of Miss South Africa Tatum Keshwar, SAMA winner Kurt Darren, Elana Afrika and Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty all attended the finale in Johannesburg. Season four winner, Jody Williams performed very well at the show, I must admit… I wish she would do more performances like that! I think with someone like Sasha-Lee fast becoming a big star, Jody is going to have to up her game even more! Interesting times.
While it was nice to see the the top 10 all performing again, the main surprise was seeing judges Gareth Cliff, Mara Louw and Randal Abrahams taking to the stage and performing their version of “The Long And Winding Road” by The Beatles. I was shocked at how Randall and Gareth belted out the melody. WOW! Continue reading “Sasha-Lee wins”
So last night’s South Africa Idols show was good. I really think the remaining contestants have upped their game and they look more comfortable on stage. As always, I have my favourites, but someone who really stood out was Sasha Lee Davids. Her rendition of Leona Lewis’ hit ‘Run’ was incredible in my opinion! Jason was once again really good too. The question is, was it enough for these two and for the other six? If I go according to how voting has gone in previous episodes, I would say the bottom three tonight will be Graeme, Thembi and Lize and I wont say who I think should or will go. That we won’t know until just before 19:30 tonight. Who stood out for y’all? Are you starting to like some of the contestants more then others? Share your Idols thoughts with us…
Sasha’s performance for you guys to see:
26-year-old Ntsepa Pitjeng was voted out of the top 10 last night. It’s a pity because her bubbly personality and her soulful sounds will be missed, but I do think this lovely lady will be scooped up by someone… perhaps some acting, presenting? Maybe even a record deal from Dave and Sony? Let’s wait and see!
