If you know me, you’ll know that traveling is one of the most dear things to me. It’s one of the most wonderful things anyone can do and I’d love to do a lot more of it. In fact, I plan to. Right now though, it isn’t about me. It’s about the awesome presenting twosome that is Jeannie D and Janez Vermeiren. The two return to our screens tonight for another season of the hit show, Top Travel. Now this is kak huh? Imagine getting paid to travel the world and share your experiences with millions of viewers. Terrible I tell you, just terrible 😉 It’s a treat to watch these two on camera together though, so expect fun times.
“We are delighted to welcome back such a popular, entertaining and informative show to our classy line-up of leading shows and we hope viewers will stay captivated with the breath taking travel experiences that will be dished out on a weekly basis,” said SABC3 Marketing Manager Risuna Mayimele.
Here’s a short synopsis of what you can expect tonight at 20:00:
The first episode looks back at what took place in Season 2, before Janez and Jeannie take off to Venice. While in Venice, the two will engage in glass making and silk making, and indulge in 5-star dining and accommodation. During their stay they will also visit and tour some of the most popular historical locations in Venice, such as the Piazzo San Marco. The two will then hop aboard the luxurious Orient Express and indulge in a one-of-a-kind travel experience on their journey to London.
More on the season to and their travel diaries to follow in the weeks to come. For now though, do yourself a favour and follow these two on Instagram… and die of jealousy.
In case you missed the news the awesome John Legend is heading back to Mzansi this August. The star is heading out as part of a Woman’s Day concert to be held at the Sandton Convention Centre on the 10th of August. Legend will be sharing the stage with the lovely Unathi Msengana and SAMA winners MiCasa. The event’s host will be the lovely Minnie Dlamini.
Honestly, this might be dedicated to the ladies, but damn with a lineup like this, I’m super stoked. Legend is one of my favourite artists ever and I’m being dead serious about that. Unathi is just the bomb. I’ve known her for many years now and she’s just so great. As for the trio that is MiCasa? Well la la la la la, La Vida… These guys are the shit!
Tickets are on sale now and they start at R900 (expensive much?). Visit Computicket and get yours now.
Do you consider yourself to be an awesome braai-er? Have you got a dream of showing the rest of the nation how it is done? Well here’s your chance. SABC 3, Pick n Pay and Cooked in Africa films are looking for you.
The Ultimate Braai Master television show is the brainchild of Justin Bonello, who is famous for his bush cooking and culinary delights around the continent in the form of a few very successful TV shows. This show is will launch later this year and it will roll out as a 13-part reality TV show. Bonello will select fifteen teams that will consist of a Braai Master and a Braai Buddy. Those teams together with Bonello will be visiting 13 different locations, in a 52-day adventure. The winner stands a chance of pocketing R500 000, a car and of course the title of the “Ultimate Braai Master”.
Sounds great right? Well it will be, but it wont be a walk in the park as Bonello says. “To earn The Ultimate Braai Master title, teams will have to sign up for a 52 day road trip, during which time they’ll be expected to occasionally catch their own food, source their ingredients under the toughest conditions, and cook to a standard of culinary excellence that will thrill our judges and raise the bar on the kinds of meals that can be produced on an open fire.”
Keen. Well you need to:
– Be a food lover who is slightly above average in the cooking department.

Top Billing has a new family member. His name is Simba Mhere and he is the winner of the Top Billing presenter search for 2010. He beat out 5007 hopefuls to be crowned the winner of the competition in last night’s finale- and now he can say confidently say “Good evening and welcome to Top Billing”. Congratulations to Simba. I think he’ll do a fine job on one of SA’s most coveted television shows. I’m envious, I was one of the 5008 contestants who auditioned, but who knows what might happen come 2011 🙂 Well done Simba, wishing you well in this new, exciting and fantastic opportunity!
Who wouldn’t jump at the opportunity to travel the globe for 26 weeks and of course for work? Well I’d be surprised if people turned that down. I would never. Janez Vermeiren and Jeannie D of Top Billing fame, have just had that very opportunity as part of the second season of travel magazine show, Top Travel. From Canada, to many South American countries, Austrolasia and Europe, they’ve done it all… and they’re not done. More traveling to come. I recently went to the launch to find out more and that was awesome too. Check out the highlights above and if you wanna watch the show, check it out tomorrow night. SABC 3, 8pm!
Top Billing is one of the most popular shows on South African TV. The show highlights all the luxuries life has to offer, from exclusive celebrity interviews to the most magnificent houses, the show has it all. What would the show be though without it’s presenters, who are the perfect ambassadors for what it stands for. I got to hang out with one of the newer faces recently, Dhiveja Sundrum. What a fantastic interview.
Not only is she beautiful, but she’s fun and super intelligent too. Fast facts: She represented South Africa at the Miss World pageant in 2005. She came 15th overall and 2nd from Africa. Nice one. She is also a qualified doctor… Impressive I say, impressive. Check out the Von Vodcast this week:
