She’s one of the most bubbly people on TV. Her infectious presenting style and laughter, coupled with her superstar looks have made Jeannie D
one of the most loved South African celebrities. Now the star is adding another feather to her cap in the form of a fragrance. Jeannie D has launched her signature perfume called Jeannie in a Bottle. She describes the fragrance as something of a ‘sophisticated’ nature, which sums her up just perfectly.
“This is an absolute dream come true for me. I just love the jasmine-floral profile of this fragrance and have no doubt that others will absolutely adore it too”,
The fragrance was developed by Luzi Switzerland and is packaged by Creighton Products in Durban. She together with her partners at Forma Cosmetics sifted through over 50 combinations before settling on sophisticated floral and spicy-woody middle notes. There’s also a little bit of amber, musk, tonka bean and vanilla. If you’re interested in purchasing the fragrance you can buy it at www.forma-cosmetics.com from R329.99. It will also be available at Clicks stores on the 1st of December 2013, just in time for Christmas 😉
Hopefully when Jeannie and Janez are finished shooting this season of Top Travel, she’ll be available for an interview with me to discuss this more. I’ll keep you posted on that front, but for now a big congratulations must go out to Jeannie!!
We love a good story, don’t we? Well as South Africans we can be super proud of two of our television productions. MasterChef South Africa and Late Night with Loyiso Gola have both been nominated for International Emmys. MasterChef was nominated in the Non-Scripted Entertainment category, while Loyiso’s show was nominated in the Comedy category. Fantastic news and rightful nominees they are. MasterChef was shot beautifully. The mix of contestants, the drama that unfolded, the food that was cooked and the show in general was just winning. Loyiso’s show is sharp, intelligent, funny and brilliant. The mix of comedians who have joined Loyiso on screen works so well and the host himself is deserving of an Emmy and more.
On receiving news about the Emmy nomination, Pierre Cloete, M-Net‘s Channel Director, says that the International Emmy nomination for MasterChef South Africa Season 1 is a huge honour: “To have the international benchmark of TV award ceremonies recognize MasterChef South Africa Season 1 with a nomination for Best International Reality Series is not only an honour, but also a huge endorsement to all parties involved. We’d like to congratulate the series producers – Quizzical Pictures and Lucky Bean Media – for creating such a high quality series. We look forward to hearing the results of this prestigious nomination.”
“Late Nite News has become part of our national conversation. It has taught us to laugh at ourselves and see the truth through humour. I see LNN as an extension of our news service at eNCA and value the hard work and dedication from Loyiso Gola, Kagiso Lediga, Tamsin Andersson and the rest of the team.” said Patrick Conroy, eNCA Group Head of News.
Tamsin Andersson, Producer of LNN said that “It’s a great feeling to have this recognition. The LNN team has worked tirelessly and passionately on the show from the beginning and it is humbling and very exciting that the Emmy’s have given us a nod. Thank you to eNCA and e.tv for all the support”.
Big up to both productions. The 41st International Emmy® Awards will be held in New York City on the 25th of November. I WANT TO GO!

I got to Hangout with Big Brother: The Chase evictees, Annabel and Sulu yesterday. Were you following them in the house? Check out their thoughts on Big Brother, their fellow BBA housemates and the like in the clips below:
If only I was a bit younger… sigh! Anyway, sob story done 😉 Aspiring VJs, it’s your chance to shine… MTV Base is looking for a new VJ and this is your last chance, as auditions roll into Jozi today. No pressure fellow Jozi residents, but the City of Gold needs to outshine the rest of the country ya hear? Good!
The auditions are taking place at Melrose Arch today. You’ll need to impress the very talented judging panel, comprised of comedian Joey Rasdien, your Queen B, Bonang Matheba and of course the original VJ winner, Sizwe Dhlomo. You know they’re young and entertaining, so that should be a good indicator as to what you need to bring to the auditions.
If you win the competition, not only will you get a cushy gig of a lifetime at one of the most iconic brands in the world, but you’ll be driving there in style. There’s a Citroën DS3 Cabrio up for grabs too. Not too shabby huh?
Here are a few things to note: Registration for the MTV Base VJ Search auditions starts from 9:00 am on Saturday 27 July. Applicants are encouraged to be on-site early as auditions will take place on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants must be South African residents between the ages of 18-25 with fluent English and no criminal record. Prior presenting or TV experience is not required. Applicants must bring valid ID with them and be available to participate in the elimination phases of the competition between 30 July and 7 August. For full terms and conditions, to download the audition script and to view online submissions, please go to www.mtvbase.com and follow the link to the MTV Base VJ Search microsite. To upload a video entry, please upload a 30 second video clip (.m4v, .mp4 format) to www.mtvbase.com, or send your clip as an attachment or email a link to your video on YouTube to firstname.lastname@example.org.
