A couple of weeks ago I heard murmurs and rumours about Eminem heading out to South Africa next year, but I left them at that until something official was announced. Well that day has arrived…

94.7 Highveld Stereo presents Eminem live in South Africa. Em will be in the city next March for one massive, epic night only. The Rapture tour rolls into Johannesburg on the 1st of March at the Ellis Park Stadium. Capetonians, he’ll be in your city on the 26th of February at the Cape Town stadium. Tickets go on sale on Thursday and you know they’re going to sell quickly, so don’t miss out!

JHB – Ellis Park from R400-R1.250

CT – CT Stadium From R350-R1.250

Here’s hoping that Eminem will perform this ‘monstrous’ song at the concert next year:

Watch: Blayze ft Fruity – Freeze & Pose

Cool video out of South Africa. This one is by singer/ rapper Blaze and it features someone by the name of Fruity. Funky track, nicely done.

Janet Jackson coming to SA

UPDATE on this! Apparently she is coming to Jozi too… 11th and the 12th of November. Waiting to confirm this.

So I have a confession to make… I’ve know that Janet Jackson is coming to SA for a long time, but I wasn’t at liberty to divulge this information until it was made official. Now it is, so we can make a noise about this. Janet Janet is officially coming to South Africa this November. 94.5 KFM announced that the youngest Jackson is heading to SA as part of her Number Ones: Up Close and Personal World Tour. This is her largest tour that will see her traveling to 25 cities around the globe and the chosen city in SA? Cape Town of course. She will be performing at the Grandwest Casino in Cape Town. On the tour, the star said:

“ This tour will be different from the tours I’ve done in the past. In the way that I perform music[ally] will be exclusively from my 35 number one hits [in] 35 cities. These concerts will be different from anything I have ever done,” Jackson said. “I will be as up close and personal as possible. These concerts are not about special effects. This is a love affair between me and those of you who have supported me and my work for all these years. I’ll be singing and dancing from my heart. The music will all be songs that you’ve made number ones for me. Let’s go!”

Newsflash: P.O.D tour cancelled

It is with great disappointment that we have had to announce the cancellation of the P.O.D tour of South Africa. Shortly after the announcement of the tour, company We Rock U sent an official letter informing us they had gone bankrupt. Local tour promoters have been working around the clock to try and salvage the event as thousands of tickets have already been sold. Due to time constraints and a lack of sponsor commitment, it is with regret that we have to cancel the shows.

Thanks to each and every one of you for your enthusiastic support.

All tickets will be 100 percent refunded. For details see the note from Micket.

Micket is extremely disappointed to announce the cancellation of the P.O.D and the Slot tour to South Africa in July. After the initial promoter’s company, WEROCKU went bankrupt, local promoters tried their very best to resurrect the show and Micket supported this decision 100%.  Unfortunately time and other resources were not enough to successfully bring the show back to life and P.O.D will no longer be touring to South Africa.

The Micket team wishes to thank all of you who have shown such incredible support since the opening of Micket sales and those of you who have tried to make the show happen, as well as the patience ticket holders showed throughout the process.

Ticket holders will be refunded in FULL by Micket.  We hope to have your support for the next show and we hope to see P.O.D and The Slot in South Africa in the near future”.

One of the biggest and most revered bands in the world are FINALLY coming to South Africa. Coldplay, ladies and gents are heading out to the country this October!!! What a good way to start your Mondays right? Tickets apparently go on sale on Thursday and they’re going to be going to least two cities as far as I can tell, Jozi and Cape Town. They’ll be performing at the FNB Stadium and the Cape Town Stadium.

5th of October- Cape Town.

DETAILS:

JOHANNESBURG 9 May 2011 –  Big Concerts is proud to announce that Coldplay will be performing live for the first time ever in South Africa on Wednesday 5th October at Cape Town Stadium and Saturday 8th October at FNB Stadium Johannesburg. The tour is presented by 94.5 KFM, 94.7 Highveld Stereo and M-Net.

Coldplay’s songs have captured millions of fans around the world since the release of ‘Parachutes’ in 2000. A critical and commercial triumph, ‘Parachutes’ debuted at number one on the UK Album Chart and was nominated for a Mercury Music Prize. After the success of ‘Parachutes’, Coldplay began to work on their second album ‘A Rush of Blood to the Head’ (2002) which spawned popular singles ’The Scientist’, ‘In My Place’ and ‘Clocks’ winning Record of the Year at the 2004 Grammys. The third album ‘X&Y’ became the best selling album of 2005 with world-wide sales of 11 million. ‘Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends’ (2008) is described by Martin as a new direction for Coldplay, a change from their past three albums, which they referred to as the trilogy. It became the bands first number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and their first UK number one based on download sales alone.

Coldplay is undoubtedly one of the world’s best selling acts, with over 50 million album sales worldwide. They have won numerous awards through their career including six Brit Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, seven Grammy Awards and they have headlined major festivals including Coachella, Glastonbury and Isle of Wight Festival.

CEO of Big Concerts, Attie Van Wyk commented: ‘Coldplay is one of the most exciting British bands to ever visit our shores. After 10 years of knocking on the door, we are incredibly excited that they have finally confirmed two stadium shows.  Their extraordinary live performances will be a first for audiences in South Africa’.
