Last night my #Unradio family at Cliff Central held the first of many event at the Lyric in Gold Reef City. The event saw the ‘president’ of Cliff Central, Gareth Cliff sharing the stage with the likes of Jennifer Su (my co-host), Hlubi Mboya, Tumisho Masha, ProVerb, the fantastic, amazing Soweto Gospel Choir and many other personalities from the station. I manned the ticket desk in fear of making all the guests evacuate their seats at the sound of my singing voice 😉

Gail Mabalane on #TheBuzz on Cliff Central

Actress, singer, businesswoman and soon-to-be mommy, Gail Mabalane dropped by the Cliff Central studios this week for an interview on my and Jennifer Su’s show, The Buzz (11-12pm on Tuesdays). The star has just launched her new, proudly South African body range called Body Lotion. She is one of the most professional, but warm and wonderful people I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing on the show and she has done so well for herself in the four years since she entered Idols. Check out this short clip where Gail talks about Body Language and she opens up about her love for her hubby, Kabelo:

More on #CliffCentral revealed

As we work our way towards the 1st of May, the day Cliff Central launches, people are still wondering what on earth Gareth Cliff has in store for us. He sat down with WeChat Africa’s Brett Loubser and CNBC Africa’s Toby Shapshak to discuss the new venture and this whole idea around UnRadio. Check it out below:

He never fails to give us a gem… Here’s one “It’s going to be Unradio. In other words radio everywhere except on radio because I think radio is going to die and I want to hold the funeral”. Bold statement, backed up by clearly a lot of thinking, backing and clever ideas.  Bring it on!

Here’s another thing I dig about this venture. The Cliff Central team are looking for new talent… Bows! There are a lot of industry players who believe it would be a good idea to use the same faces over and over and over again. It’s such a snore fest and to be honest it creates media fatigue, which is more damaging to the brand and the person than anything else. Cliff put out an update on FB yesterday calling for new talent. Great news. Here’s all the info:

Last week we launched CliffCentral.com – uncensored, unscripted, unradio – coming to you live from 1st May. What is all about? We’re inviting you to share in real conversations about everything that happens in our world – everything we all experience every day – what makes us think…makes us laugh…makes us cry…..makes us angry…inspires us…makes us human. It’s about the stuff that connects us on this journey called Life. CliffCentral.com is our home and you can join us from wherever you are in the world.

I’m excited to be back with you again from 6.00 – 9.00 from 1st May together with Leigh-Ann Mol, Mabale Moloi and yes…even Damon Kalvari. Meantime, while Thabo has been trapped on the 26th Floor of the SABC still demanding his multi-million Rand payout, intern Siya Sangweni-Fynn has made inroads as President of CliffCentral Youth League, leading the charge into this brave new era. And there’s YOU! Can’t wait to be re-untited.

We will be broadcasting live all day with some well-known names hosting regular shows as well as launching aspiring new talent. It could even be you! We’re tapping into the vast untapped talent pool in South Africa and giving people a chance to audition live from 1st May at CliffCentral studios (situated in Rivonia, Sandton). You could be the next best thing but no one has given you a chance yet.

Email your motivation to Damon – damon@cliffcentral.com – and say why you deserve a show. Briefly describe what your show would include, why it’s relevant to the Cliff Community and why you deserve to make it to the live auditions. If you want to be a music dj, then rather try YFM or 5FM. If you can add to our lively and entertaining conversation, then this could be the place for you.

So if you have what it takes to be on Cliff Central, you’re smart, whitty, creative and innovative then best you email Damon… and quickly!!!
